Going Green
After writing my article “Killing Me Softly” I reviewed all my makeup and beauty products. 90% of what I own ended up in the trash bin. Where can I find my beauty & bath replacements now? Etsy. Here is a round up of my favorite (already and yet to be purchased) items, which are free of toxic chemicals and are at affordable price. *For items that I was not sure about I contacted shop owners directly and they provided me with full ingredients list within 24 hours (great service!)
1. Mascara. Everyone needs one as it gives colour and volume to our lashes, making them more alluring and attractive. Try Keepingitnatural’s vegan mineral mascara in Pitch Black, it comes in a retro tin and is a creamy cake versus your regular liquid mascara. $7.95
2. Blush. When I discovered blush it literally changed my life. Blush gives me radiance, glow and a healthy look that no other product can achieve. When I am lazy I just put on blush & mascara and I feel like a hunded dollars. Mineral vegan blushes by Naked Elements are amazingly pigmented and they come in fun colours too - Watermelon, Strawberry, Nutmeg and Bosc Pear are just among the few. Choose your favorite. $10
3. Lip Stain & Gloss. Add a boost of flavour to your life with all natural lip colour by Twinkbeauty. With 14 colours to choose from and customizable flavour your lips are going to be everything but bored. $5
4. Hand creme or lotion. Is a must have for me. My hands get super dry and cracked by winter time if I don’t use a protective creme. If you are with me in the same boat try Burt’s Bees all natural hand creme. $13
5. Bath bombs. Invite Herbolution’s organic and eco friendly bath bombs into your life and see how they will change your bathing experience once and for all. They will make your every bath an occasion to remember. $4
6. Perfume. Fragrance companies don’t have to disclose the entire list of ingredients calling it a “company secret” and hence hiding toxic chemicals behind fancy words. Try out a green fragrance by Ecogirlz , an organic vegan perfume that you can trust. $5
7. Shampoo. If I had to pick one item out of all bath products that absolutely has to be toxic free that would be shampoo & soap. Because we expose ourselves to these items every single day. Please replace your shampoo with all natural one. As an example try out Peppermint and Tea Tree shampoo by PureplyBeauty. $9.95
8. Soap. Just as important as shampoo :) Rocky Top Soap Shop’s all natural soaps can be used both as your body & hand soap. Try out my favorite French Red $6
9. Concealer. Is another one of my makeup must haves as I have the worst under eye black circles (I think it is hereditary versus being a histamine or under sleeping problem). This handcrafted natural concealer by by CHICBean is camera ready and it functions as concealer, corrector and a highlighter. $15
10. Scrub. Is my number one choice of exfoliant. I use it for face, hands, body and feet. Try out my favorite combination of sugar and coffee in a Coffee Butter Sugar Scrub by SweetSallysSoaps. $7.50
11. Tea. A health product, not really bath&beauty, though I believe that beauty and health are interlinked. I get the worst pains during my menstrual cycle so to ease things up I decided to try out this Lunar Cycle Tea by BittersweetApotheca. I am not expecting miracles but I am hoping it will ease up some pain. $9.50
